This inaugural convention attracted huge numbers of gnomes, and their carers, travelling from far and wide to meet with their peers and exchange tales of travels and tribulations.
It was a huge success, culminating in awards for the day, presented by the Australia Day Ambassador for 2005, Maurice Saxby, renowned author and Martin Slade, the representative for Woolworths.
Various sections for awards included metro 'gnomes, miss-gnomers, aussie gnomes, posh gnome, country gnome and sporty gnome. A new category for broken ' gnomes was instigated on the day to enable those gnomes whose carers are less than careful could successfully take part!

Gnomes from out of state were invited to rest in the gnome sanctuary in the gnome master's garden, and a worthwhile result from this, was the instigation of an 'ome' for destitute gnomes..... for further information, please go to enquiries
Media attention for the day, advertising this exciting new event, spread far and wide and interest from the general public was high. We are all looking forward to the second Australian Gnome Convention on Australia Day in 2006.
So bring your gnome from 'ome and join in this funtastic day out! |
